New and Improved

We’ve been working hard here at Froglix to revamp the site. The goal is to make easier for you to get to new and great music from multiple genres. We aren’t done, so expect more changes coming. But we didn’t want to wait any longer to share the improvements.
Froglix Jump PageThe biggest difference is the new launch page found at http://www.froglix.com. From there you can quickly find your way to your favorite Froglix global broadcast, the OuterSound podcast, or to our blog. The second biggest difference is we are adding channels. The Big Mix is what you already know and love. Skalicious is new with Combustulator and Dubs & Dreads coming soon. Along the way you’ll find a new player, a bit more user interactivity, and more links to iTunes so you can support the artists you love with your pocketbook.
We are excited about the changes. We hope it provides you with the best experience to discover great new music. Our mission at Froglix remains the same, to bring to you the best independent/unsigned artists from around the world.

OuterSound :: June 2011
In this month’s installment of OuterSound Froglix is featuring a double shot of songs from (5) spectacular bands…all on the Stomp Records label.  Needless to say, we have been quite impressed with the talent currently being amassed in the Stomp stable of artists, the latest of which includes the aforementioned Kings of Canadian Ska, Rude City Riot, and while we don’t have any RCR in this particular podcast, we will in the very near future.  So be sure check back frequently or, better yet, subscribe to OuterSound on iTunes!
As for this particular show, prepare yourself to be hit right between the eyes with some of the best ska, pyscho-billy, punk, polka (that’s right…freaking polka!) and reggae on the planet.  OuterSound lights it up with The Creepshow, The Aggrolites, The Resignators, The Dreadnoughts and The Brains.  Buckle up kids… OuterSound is back and better than ever!

Dig it…The Best of OuterSound

The Best of Outersound - 2009
We round out 2009 with the Best of OuterSound.  It is a compilation of some (but not all) of the best indie music that has been delivered to the Froglix Faithful via our monthly OuterSound podcast and/or our global broadcast on Froglix Radio.  This first year-end edition could easily have been 2-3 times as long as it was very difficult to pick the songs for this episode.  We have, however settled on a final “Best of” list and it is, in order of appearance:
Rude City Riot (Vancouver, Canada), The Kut (UK), IM Munroe (Toronto, Canada), Treading Lemmings (Washington, DC), Lux Leopard (Sochi, Russia),  Everything Zen (Cleveland, OH), Mars Accelerator (Seattle, WA), Glue Factory (Long Beach, CA), Part One Tribe (Long Beach, CA), Cellarscape (UK), Artsy Pop (Paris, France), Black Knight (Australia), Nadine Loren (Los Angeles, CA) and Sharif (Los Angeles, CA).

Atlanta Cashbook Clique dancehall featured artists Georgia hip hop Jamaica Murderus Soundz reviews Street Dream Records Young Dread

Dancehall Days Revisited

Genre: dancehall/hip hop
Label: Street Dream Records (Cashbook Clique) and Murderus Soundz (Young Dread)
Jamaica’s Cashbook Clique, who first joined Froglix’s global broadcast a few weeks ago with a track entitled “Galis Caliba”, is back with another new song.  “Rise”, now in rotation, swings a little more to Cashbook Cliquethe Hip Hop side of their musical influences while staying true to their Dancehall roots.  This new track is just as engaging as their previous work and is sure to be enjoyed by the Froglix faithful.
Young DreadWhat do Gladys Knight, The B-52’s and Sugarland have in common with our newest addition to the broadcast  Young Dread?   Well, it’s definitely not the same genre of music that’s for certain.  However, they all, as well as a myriad of other well known musicians, athletes and entertainers, call Atlanta, GA home.  The list of famous musicians that hail from this southern metropolis is a storied one indeed.   However, we really haven’t heard much in the way of Dancehall coming out of the ATL, which is rather sad as The Big Peach could really use it!   After listening to the tracks from Young Dread, we came to the conclusion that he is just the one to bring it.  This talented artist delivers pulsating rhythms complimented by lyrics that are on time and on point.  We are thrilled to be featuring selections from Same Color As the President and look forward to hearing much more.  In addition to the broadcast, you can also check out Young Dread in the October episode of the OuterSound Indie Music Podcast. Prepare to get your groove on people!
