Damn Skippy

New music is already on the way in 2012 from our favourite/rehabilitated juvenile delinquents from Great Britain.  We are pleased as punch that Damn Vandals have a new EP that is expected to drop at the end of February.  We can’t wait to hear it.

This Just In :: Damn Vandals Set Release Date for New Single

artist: Damn Vandals | genre: alternative, rock | label: unsigned

The UK’s Damn Vandals are soon to be back in the mix with a new single.  “Bayonet” is scheduled to be released next month (April 25th to be exact) but  you can check out a preview via the video above. For those of you new to the “DV” experience, the band all met while completing mandatory public service for, you guessed it, vandalism.  Graffiti art to be exact…which should become apparent after watching any of their videos.  Lead singer Jack Kansas is the “chief videographer” and you’ll see that he has quite a knack for creating interesting, if not memorable, videos to accompany their compositions.  In our Vandalism at Its Finest post from last year, we reference the band’s haunting lyrics and melancholy guitars as some our key “likes” and we are happy to hear that “Bayonet” offers some more of the good stuff.

Crocodile Rocks

artist: Damn Vandals | genre: alternative, rock | label: unsigned

Froglix originally reviewed/introduced Britain’s Damn Vandals back in May and were stoked when guitarist Frank Pick recently sent us this music video for “Crocodile Song” as their vids are always interesting and unique…just like their music.  This is no cookie-cutter indie/alt-rock band my friends.  Take a gander and you’ll see/hear for yourself that these cats are a breed all their own.  Cool song,  creative video and…of course…we dig the Deniro reference.

Cocaine Love :: Union Jack Boxes

April showers bring May flowers but what do May flowers bring?  Damn VandalsJack Kansas (vox), Frank Pick (guitar), Adam Kilemore Gardens (aka THE ANVIL – bass) and Chris Christianson (drums) make up this talented quartet.  Hailing from the Big Smoke (that’s London for the Yanks out there) the story goes that these cats met via an online forum for graffiti artists and, after “collaborating on a project”, got busted and had to complete (500) hours of community service as a penalty…or is it rehabilitation.  It matters not as it’s quite apparent that the Brits don’t look kindly on that type of artistic expression either.  Regardless of how it all started, I imagine if they keep putting out music like this, I dare say it could end quite well for these blokes as their haunting vocals paired with Echo-like guitar phrasing makes for a very intriguing mix indeed.  ‘Cocaine Love’ and ‘Union Jack Boxes’ (available for listen here and as part of our global broadcast) are just (2) of the tracks featured on band’s upcoming Sexy Beast disc that is scheduled to drop next Tuesday, May 25.  Needless to say we are quite honored to be entrusted with a sneak peak and wait on baited breath for our chance to listen the rest of their newest album in it’s entirety.
