Calling
Speakers

It took quite a bit of courage for Jason Napier and Dony West, the founding members of Sink To See, to leave the familiar surroundings of Columbus, OH for the bright city lights of Los Angeles.  However, that is exactly what they did.  Shortly after arriving in the City of Angels, they were introduced to bassist Shawn Bathe and later, the last piece of the puzzle, drummer Josh Chilton.  With line-up in tact, S2S began writing and performing their own special blend of indie/alternative rock which comes equipped with plenty of punk undertones.  The fullness of the guitars, further enhanced by the richness of the rhythm section, carries with it a certain melodic intensity that meshes well with a vocal performance of equal fervor.   You can hear S2S on Froglix as they join the broadcast with  (3) tracks from their latest CD entitled 2012.  You can also check out their video for the title track (among others) on their YouTube channel by clicking here.

The Best of Outersound - 2009

We round out 2009 with the Best of OuterSound.  It is a compilation of some (but not all) of the best indie music that has been delivered to the Froglix Faithful via our monthly OuterSound podcast and/or our global broadcast on Froglix Radio.  This first year-end edition could easily have been 2-3 times as long as it was very difficult to pick the songs for this episode.  We have, however settled on a final “Best of” list and it is, in order of appearance:

Rude City Riot (Vancouver, Canada), The Kut (UK), IM Munroe (Toronto, Canada), Treading Lemmings (Washington, DC), Lux Leopard (Sochi, Russia),  Everything Zen (Cleveland, OH), Mars Accelerator (Seattle, WA), Glue Factory (Long Beach, CA), Part One Tribe (Long Beach, CA), Cellarscape (UK), Artsy Pop (Paris, France), Black Knight (Australia), Nadine Loren (Los Angeles, CA) and Sharif (Los Angeles, CA).

Everything Zen

Down Down Down :: Primo :: Party With The Lights On!

At the heart of Everything Zen you will find (5) musicians who absolutely love to play.  You can hear it.   Their self-titled debut disc, recorded at Jungle Studios in their hometown of Cleveland, OH, has a very “live” feel to it which is perfect for this band.  For Zach McCraith (vox), Vince Lundi (guitar/vox), Jon Benko (guitar), Josh Whiteman (drums), and Jake Goldberg (bass), their musical career is just beginning.  At 20 years of age, none of the aforementioned bandmates are even old enough to drink legally and yet they play with a certain musical maturity that is usually reserved for musicians 10 to 20 years their senior.   Elements of alt-rock and indie-pop, along with a dash of punk and ska, radiate from within and give life to a sound that is teeming with infectious energy and raw enthusiasm.  The only thing I would have to say I’m not down with is…the name.  But, given that I not only dig their music and their delivery, I’m willing to overlook it.
