Flashback Friday: Afghan Whigs

The afghan whigs

Perhaps it was their clean cut image or maybe it was Greg Dulli’s soulful, post punk vocals dancing ever so perfectly through intoxicating rhythms and clever guitar riffs that helped Cincinnatti’s Afghan Whigs stand out in decade of music that was awash in a Seattle sea of grunge.  Whatever it was…it worked as they truly offered music lovers a clear alternative to the flannel infused sounds of Pearl Jam, Sound Garden, Alice In Chains and others of their ilk.  The Whigs had a sophisticated sound that proved to be just as intense and energetic as their aforementioned contemporaries from the Left Coast but it also had a certain degree of elegance, for lack of a better word, that that was impossible to duplicate.  Today on this Flashback Friday, your friends at Froglix have selected and are proud to be featuring track #4 from their 1993 release entitled Gentlemen that truly is [itunes link=”https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/debonair/id300952263?i=300952309&uo=4″ title=”Debonair” text=”Debonair”].
